Extension Activities for Distance Learning
Daily Writing
Have your child write in a notebook or loose-leaf paper. Please make sure they remember to have a capital letter, finger spaces & a punctuation mark if when writing their sentence/story. They may also write a list!
Fix the sentence
Write a sentence for your child with a few mistakes and have them fix it for you (e.g., misspelled sight word, no capital letter, no finger spaces, incorrect or no punctuation mark).
On the hunt
Finding sight words or word families in a book, magazine, etc. and writing them down.
Writing Practice with Sight words/Word family
Write your sight words or word family words in rainbow writing, fancy letters, crayons, pens, smelly markers, etc.
Math at home
Aside from flashcards, do some math facts with your child using cereal or other items at home like play dough and toys (addition and subtraction).

-Movement videos that we use in the classroom that is great for brain breaks between our lessons. This will provide a few minutes to get the wiggles out and move onto the next lesson at home. Search guided dance, NTV and Kids Bop for their favorites! We started doing this my first week and the kids LOVED it!! I highly recommend it!
